MAP OPEN 2012

 

Our track is based just outside stratford-upon-avon the B439 between bidford and stratford

postcode CV37 9SY No race traffic through binton village allowed

all junior drivers are to gain FREE ENTRY at this years MAP open

MAP  and Junior Briitish Championships will also be running FREE transport to and from Stratford upon avon on Thursday 2nd (4pm - midnight) Fri 3rd & sat 4th (Midday - Midnight)  so you can all enjoy what  Stratford has to offer from sightseeing to boat trips to nice food and drink and plenty of shopping!

The MAP league host one of the most prestigious meetings of the year, the MAP open which is usually held  on the first weekend of june normally around the 4th and 5th of june

however this date may be  subject to change during 2012 due to the long bank holiday.

The MAP Open has been running for approx 30 years and is one of the most talked about meetings of the autograss season, it is also known as the ERIC CARLING Memorial Meeting

Eric Carling was one of the founder members that helped to start the club that eventually formed the MAP League along with Radford Club. The winner of the mens champion of champions recieves the Eric Carling Memorial Trophy.

Track Alterations - Extensive work has been carried out on the track, now with a longer track.

Semi Finals for all the classes with more than 17 cars signed on

Junior British Championships - semi finals, quarter finals will also be included if  75 of more cars are signed on

There are an extensive number of attractions, shops, restaurants, pubs, and clubs in Stratford  so why not come early  and make most of the FREE transport.

Gate fees are:  £20 Per Adult ,   £10 for 12's -16's and OAP's,  Under 12's Free.

Junior Drivers this year are FREE but pay £20 on the gate and get Refund at signing on.

Camping £5 per unit

 

Junior British Championships

 

The British junior Championships were started approx 29 years ago, it would have been 30 years but rain stopped play during the 90's. The first  recorded race was ran in 1982 and was won by stroud driver andrew phipps in S78D, (the brother of Ian Phipps) it was lead until the last corner by Stuart Hazelwood R888 of Hazelwood trailers fame and son of international rally and autoest man Mac Hazelwood, His car jumped out of gear as he excited the last corner and he finished 4th, 2nd was mike Barell of hereford (Number unknown) Martyn Wilson of stroud was 3rd. All racing Austin 1100 cars.

The bent cam trophy was presented by Lionel  Hartles of Radford. The class was sponsored by bertha of Lille of Telford overalls, held june 20th at Radford's Hanbury Track.

 

12 Years ago, A chance comment was made by Jefferey Parish had the mini racing also called "The Spirit of the map"
